As a child actor, he appeared in over 250 national commercials and for three years, beginning at age 10, co-starred as Billy Nartin on "The Doris Day Show. " At North Hollywood High, Philip excelled at most sports and was one of the youngest semi-professional soccer players to be drafted in the country. He played for the California Surf and after his graduation from high school, the World Cup Glasgow Rangers expressed interest in having him join their team. Philip opted instead to pursue his acting career and went on to star with Debra Winger and Charles Durning in the television movie, "A Special Kind of Love."
